AUDITIONS SCHEDULE

Sunday, August 24th

Visit our booth on quad day to say hi, ask us questions, and learn more about the Rips!

Be sure to catch our performance on the main stage at 3:20 PM!

August 25th - 27th

5:00 - 10:00 PM

Auditions will be held in Lincoln Hall. Sign up for a 10-minute time slot using the link below!

Please prepare a verse and chorus of a song you think suits your voice best, along with any other vocal skills such as beatboxing.

Friday, August 29th*

If applicable, individuals asked to callbacks will be provided further details upon receiving their invitation.

Above all, remember to relax, be yourself, and enjoy the process! Remember that we are rooting for you and are so excited to hear you!

At your audition, we’ll help you warm up both your lower and higher vocal range. Then we’ll ask you to sing your verse and chorus (45-90 seconds) of a song of your choice, followed optionally by any special skills such as beatboxing. Auditions vary, but you may then be asked to sight read a short piece. You will then be asked to sight read a short piece!

The Rip Chords perform at two mainstage concerts each year: acatoberfest and our spring concert. Each spring, we compete at ICCA quarterfinals. Throughout the school year, we can be found opening for other campus musical groups or performing at various gigs in our community. We also visit various NW suburban high schools over school breaks!

Practice performing your song excerpt a cappella, and be sure to prepare any vocal skills you may want to showcase. Then, take a deep breath, relax, and have fun! Most importantly, be your authentic self throughout the process. We are all cheering you on!

The Rip Chords are a fun-loving but musically focused group who typically rehearse for 2-3 hours three times a week. Our rehearsal schedule is built around the schedule of our members, and many members are heavily involved in other campus activities! When not rehearsing, we enjoy spending lots of social time with each other and our brother group, The Xtension Chords.
